What Brainmaxing is, and — just as importantly — what it is not.
What this is
Brainmaxing is an educational product about habits, routines and working conditions that are commonly associated with focus, memory, learning and self-control.
The Cognitive Skills Snapshot is a short set of questions about your own habits and circumstances. It produces a starting point: which of six practical areas your answers suggest is most likely to repay attention first, and a seven-day plan of ordinary, low-risk changes.
The bench is a set of short attention and memory tasks you run in your browser. They give you your own times and accuracies on those tasks, so you can see how a session went and how it compares with your own earlier sessions.
What this is not
This is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any condition.
This is not an intelligence test. Nothing here produces a general ability score, a ranking, or a comparison against other people.
This is not a treatment for ADHD, dementia, depression, anxiety or any other condition, and it makes no claim to prevent or delay any of them.
It is not a screening tool. Nothing here is designed to find a condition, to rule one out, or to tell you whether you should be worried, and a result from it must never be used to diagnose anybody — including yourself.
We do not claim that using this product will increase your intelligence, guarantee academic or professional results, or produce any specific outcome.
How your Snapshot result is produced
Your answers are scored by a fixed, published set of weights. The same answers always produce the same result. There is no hidden model and no randomness, and your full score for each of the six areas is shown to you alongside the conclusion.
Because it rests on six self-reported answers, the result is a prompt for reflection rather than a measurement. It is not norm-referenced and has no clinical validity.
About the games and what a score means
Each game reports how you did on that game, in that session, on that device. A reaction-time figure is a fact about a set of key presses, not a property of you, and it moves with your sleep, your screen, your keyboard, your mouse and how much you cared that day.
Practice makes you better at the task you practised. There is good evidence that people improve on trained tasks and poor evidence that the improvement carries over to unrelated abilities or to everyday life, so we do not claim that it does.
Your results are never compared with other people's as a rank or a percentile. Comparing them would need a norming sample this product does not have, and a number presented as a percentile without one is an invented number.
The games are run in your browser, and browsers are not laboratory timing equipment. Every reading carries how it was produced, and readings taken under conditions we can tell were poor are flagged rather than quietly averaged in.
When to speak to a professional
If you are concerned about your memory, attention, mood or sleep — particularly if something has changed noticeably, persists, or is affecting your daily life — please speak to a qualified healthcare professional. This product is not a substitute for that, and it is not designed to detect anything.
Please do not put off getting help because of anything you read here. If you were going to see somebody about your memory, your attention, your mood or your sleep, see them; nothing on this site is a reason to wait, and nothing on it can tell you that you do not need to.
